“They would kill him,” said British Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing when commenting on what she believed would happen if Barack Obama won the U.S. elections. Ms. Kessing made her remarks during an interview with a Swedish newspaper over the weekend.
The security of Barack Obama has been of paramount concern to the Secret Service. The Secret Service began protecting Obama in May 2007 who according to some reports, had already received death threats by then. Both the Secret Service and the Obama campaign have been mum on threats to Obama for obvious reasons. Protecting the President of the U.S. has become an even larger challenge for the Secret Service in the post 9/11 environment particularly since the White House was reportedly one of the targets of the 9/11 hijackers. If Obama does get elected, needless to say the Secret Service will have to deal with both foreign and domestic threats at an unprecedented level. There will be threats from foreign terrorists who are targeting the office of the presidency but also threats from domestic terrorists targeting Obama himself, as opposed to the office.
It will be the job of the Secret Service to ensure neither succeeds.

I RECENTLY APPLIED TO A GUARD COMPANY IN LOS ANGELES AND WAS TOLD I'D HAVE TO JOIN SEIU SOULA 2006 LOCAL SECURITY GUARD UNION. I WAS TOLD THE DUES WOULD BE 2.5% OF MY SALARY. THIS SEEMS AWFULLY HIGH TO ME. FOR A GUARD MAKING $20K PER YEAR THAT'S $500.00 ANNUAL DUES. I'VE MADE THIS WAGE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE AT DIFFERENT GUARD COMPANIES. SO WHY NOW DO I HAVE TO PAY UNION DUES? ALSO, SINCE THE UNION DUES IS A PERCENTAGE OF MY SALARY AND I GET SALARY INCREASES BASED ON PERFORMANCE AND PLEASING THE CLIENT WHY DOES THE UNION GET AN INCREASE JUST BECAUSE I MAKE A CONSCIENTIOUS EFFORT ON THE JOB TO DO A GOOD JOB? IT SEEMS TO ME THE DUES SHOULD BE A FLAT FEE, NOT A PER CENTAGE OF WHATEVER I MAKE. I'D SURE LIKE TO HEAR SOME COMMENTS ON THIS. THANKS
